As a competitive athlete growing up, Heather developed a strong interest in health sciences. This led her to pursue a BSc Honours degree in BioPsychology and a BSc in Biology at Queen’s University. Heather’s love of nature, outdoor activities, and neuropsychology drew her to Western Canada to complete her undergraduate thesis at UBC.

While taking post-graduate courses in counselling psychology, Heather gained valuable experience volunteering with the Victim Services Mobile Response Unit of the Vancouver Police Department, the Alternate Shelter Society for at-risk youth, and Hopewell Eating Disorder Support Centre.

Like many practitioners, Heather discovered the effectiveness of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) and acupuncture first-hand while dealing with her own health issues. Without acupuncture, Heather believes she would not have been able to spend 4 years teaching ESL and travelling in Asia. As a result, she decided to study traditional Chinese medicine in order to help others recover and achieve better health.

TCM initially challenged Heather’s knowledge of the body, healing, and health based on Western medicine principles. However, Heather quickly appreciated TCM’s holistic, balanced, individualized, and versatile approach in treating pain and a wide-range of other health conditions. Heather is passionate about traditional Chinese medicine and its role in modern, integrated healthcare.

Heather completed her Acupuncture Diploma in 2014, her TCM Practitioner Diploma (Herbology) in 2015, and her Advanced TCM Diploma (5 years) in 2016 at the Toronto School of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TSTCM). Heather is one of 11 TCM practitioners in Canada to be certified in Advanced TCM Dermatology and to be a member of the International TCM Dermatology Association.

Time flies when you love what you do! Heather has been practicing TCM & acupuncture for the past 7 years. She is a member in good standing with the College of Traditional Chinese Medicine Practitioners and Acupuncturists of Ontario (CTCMPAO).
